Thank you to everyone who donated to, supported, and worked at the Back to School Fair. The Burbank Non-Profit Coalition did a great job organizing everything, and our very own Marisa Robinson was on-site at the event, making sure everything was running smoothly. It was a hot, action packed day, but completely rewarding and fun, despite the temperature reaching about 100!

We arrived at 7:45 am on Sunday morning to start setting up. We had a handful of wonderful Burbank High School Interact members there with us all day, working at the booth. They were a huge help, not only with the kids, but they also decorated several birthday bags for Project Angel Food. But most importantly, they were really fun. A great group of teenagers that were a joy to hang out with.

Each child who was picking up a backpack had a passport that had a square for each vendor at the fair. They had to come around and get stamps from each booth. Once they had a full passport, they could go pick up their backpack. We had a great time meeting all the kids and family members. Sunny brought a bubble machine that the kids loved.

Our booth was across the way from the Burbank Coordinating Council booth, who had a cotton candy machine, and Kids' Community Dental Clinic, who had homemade Icees. One booth behind ours was doing face painting, so we saw some adorable faces and hands painted with all sorts of rainbows and animals.

We also saw Leeza Gibbons who was there with her non-profit, Leeza's Care Connection. Carole even got a picture with her! Anthony Portantino stopped by early in the morning before it got too hot. We had sightings of a couple city council members as well, including our own Nick Schultz, who came by for a selfie (which he posted on Twitter!).

When I went to my car to grab something, I overheard a kid in the next car say, "I'm so excited about my backpack!" to which their mom replied, "I know! Just think of all the people who worked so hard to put that together for you!"

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard and helped make this happen.

Here's a photo album from the day, with a couple here:
