A brief overview of the updates for the new Rotary year 2022-2023!
Hi!
Today is the first day of the new Rotary year, and I am so excited and honored to be the club president. I am especially excited that this is our club's centennial year!
I wanted to give an update to the club about our meeting space and other changes.
Meeting Location
We will be meeting in the Social Hall for Little White Chapel for the month of July. It is a large room, which we will have all to ourselves. There is a small parking lot right next to the social hall, plus plenty of street parking.
Lunches and RSVPs
It's not a restaurant, so we will need to have catered lunches brought in each week, so we will be adding a volunteer position to the weekly meetings to pick up the prepaid catered lunches. To help us order the proper number of lunches, I am going to ask members to register for the meeting if you are planning to have lunch. If you are not having lunch, no need to register, you can just show up. We will check the RSVPs on Monday mornings, and order lunches to be picked up on Tuesday. I expect we will rotate the lunches to different businesses to support Burbank businesses. In addition, if you have your own lunch, feel free to bring it with you.
Meeting Volunteers
In addition, we are going to use Clubrunner for our weekly emails and signing up for the weekly volunteer positions. When you view an upcoming event, there should be a link on the left to sign up to volunteer at that meeting.
Evening Mixers
We are planning on having evening mixers on the first week of the month, likely on a Thursday evening. We will skip this on weeks when we are dark (like next week), but on non-holiday months, we will plan on that. These will be a perfect time for us to invite friends, family members, and co-workers to join us to hang out and socialize. I am hoping to also invite other neighboring Rotary Clubs to join us. Our first mixer will be on Thursday, August 6th at Story Tavern.
Updating the Website
We are working on keeping our website updated with the meetings and speakers. We also want to write up more recaps and post photos from meetings, service projects, and anything else that would be of interest to our members. If you are interested in helping with this, please see this article on the website.
Service Projects
Our goal is to do roughly one service project per month. Our first one is the Back to School Fair on August 7, 2022. If you have ideas for projects we can do, please reach out to Michelle Ries or Stephanie Laing.
I think that is most of the big stuff for now! I will try to post general updates from time to time to keep everyone in the loop.
