The Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission is celebrating its 10th year. Its mission is to prevent, reduce and eliminate poverty, hunger, and homelessness. They do this through a combination of immediate assistance and long-term solutions that work within their communities to provide the services needed by their clients. They are a faith-based independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that does not discriminate based on gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation or lack thereof. Their services are grounded in a deep respect for the dignity inherent in each human being.
With this project, we are specifically targeting emancipated and displaced youth. During their stay with Hope of the Valley, these young adults will work toward finding purpose and understanding about how to be successful and live independently in our modern society. With District Grant funding support this project is intended to include communication gates that include short, medium and long term components.
- THE MEAL is intended to be a momentary glimpse into our club and Rotary in general. It is also intended to demonstrate that people in their community are interested in helping them and can be a resource for information and support as they approach life's challenges.
- THE HYGIENE KITS are intended to be a small mid-range jump start for their new independent lives. Many of these clients may not have any basic household staples like ibuprofen, deodorant, and soap.
- ONGOING OUTREACH by our Rotary family will show them how, despite their lack of paternal support, they have support in the Rotary family along with the support of the community.
